Nurturing our Planet
The Group recognizes environmental and climate change challenges and our responsibility towards building a sustainable business, community and planet.
Our most significant environmental impacts occur within the supply chain, during the process of production and transportation, as well as during the customer washing and drying of the apparel and textile products. To this end, in order to fully understand the climate change risk and impact on raw materials used in the production of the Group’s products, detailed and specific research appropriate to the needs of the industry is required. It is expected that the participation in the National Sustainable Textile and Apparel Cluster will produce life cycle assessments that will assist the South African textile industry to make informed decisions in this regard.
The Group is committed to reducing its impact on the environment and targets have been set to reduce energy consumption and waste. Consumption figures are reported in the Key Performance Indicators extract of the Annual Integrated Report 2014
